May 03 Immigration Thing! As not many of you know, I am a mexican. I am still not a registered U.S. citizen but will be soon. All of my life, I have had american beliefs and thiking inbeded into my very being so I was born a mexican and raised american. I am 18, and have basically been american 17 of those years. I guess that will help with what I will write about.
Ok then, now back to my subject.
I don't really think illegal immigrants are doing a very smart thing. They are illegaly here so they kind of don't that much say in what can or cannot do in this country.
I am a bit against into making it a felony to enter this country. The U.S cannot and must not have that kind of power to sentence a citizen of another country to jail. That's just plain stupid.
In the other hand, illegal immigrants must get their permits or their residencial cards or whatever for them to work here. It is hurting the economy when they win money and take it to Mexico and spend it there.
One dumb thing that I saw that some protestors did was burning the flag. Why are they trying to say by doing that? Are they trying to make the country for which they want to work for mad or something like that? It just boggles my mind to understand why they would do that. It kind of puts them in the same league as a terrrorist burning a flag for hatred towards this great country. That's what I think.
One proposal that I have been thinking and hope that maybe someone will listen to is this.
For just one year and no more the Naturalization process and it's requirements should be lowered. The money used to pay for such a process must go down. The time required and the time it takes for this entire process should be cut to a lesser amount. Why do I think this should be done? Well, this way, illegal immigrants will be able to get their permits and whatever without actually doing it for free. They will have to go through such a process, a much easier one, and thus allow the U.S. to fully get what they need from them such as taxes and whatnot.
The proposal of just granting I.M's their citizenship will just drain the U.S of much needed money but by doing something closely related to what I said, not only does it help the U.S. with some money but the immigrants themselves will have an easier time getting it.
If some I.M's don't wish to go through it, too bad for them. After the given year the border protection and such should be increased just a bit and again make the requirements of Naturalization as they once were.
That's what I think about all of this. If anyone thinks otherwise, then great! :D
Say what you want to say, it's your right!
Laterz everyone!
